St. James’s Place – 10 Tors Challenge – 13th & 14th September 2008
23rd Sep 2008

On the weekend of the 13th & 14th September 2008 many employees from within the St. James's Place Partnership travelled from all over the UK to Dartmoor National Park in Devon.

The aim of the weekend was to self navigate and walk between 10 carefully selected rock outcrops (Tors) on top of various peaks within the northern part of Dartmoor National Park.

Many groups embarked on the walk ranging between 25-35 miles depending on the route. The aim of the walk was to raise sponsorship (which we certainly did! £65K+) for the St. James's Place Foundation. The Foundation has been an avid supporter and donor to Children of the Himalayas for many years.

The event was open to all and included walkers with ample experience as well as walkers with no prior walking experience. With moral support from within each team and food and drinks the St. James's Place helpers back at camp the walk was completed by everyone involved.

A great weekend was had by all, despite the walking being one of the hardest tasks some people had ever embarked on! The achievement & memories of the weekend and the money raise by charity will greatly outlive the aching legs and blisters felt by all at the end of the walk.

A big thank you to Mike Harper and the St. James's Place team who organised the event, the walkers and the people who pledged money! Roll on next year & lets keep the charity money coming!
